Elvis Dumervil Sounds Off

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Draft | COMMENTS: None Yet

For those of you that don’t know, Elvis Dumervil blogs for the Denver Broncos team site. In his latest, he talks about how crazy the rookie year is in the NFL, the Combine, and the Kentucky Derby.
He says this about the Combine:
“But speaking of the Combine — it’s good for some things, I think it should be accounted for, but it should be more 70 percent your film and 30 percent Combine. These days it’s the opposite — if you run a good 40, you’re going to get drafted in the first round. That’s why there’s so many busts out here [...]

Top 5 Reasons Why the Broncos need Knowshon Moreno

AUTHOR: jprovenzo | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

The big debate is whether the Broncos should have drafted RB Knowshon Moreno with the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft. Here are the Top Five Reasons why the Broncos need Knowshon Moreno
5. Georgia Migraine

Coach McDaniels suffered from a migraine days before the draft then proceeded to select a RB from Georgia. The last time a migraine and a Georgia running back were linked together was?…you guessed it.
4. Georgia is Running Back U
Georgia has produced solid runners that found success in the NFL.
Garrison Hearst-
Hearst was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in the first round of the 1993 draft. Garrison [...]

Josh McDaniels Talks About His Draft Picks

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Draft | COMMENTS: None Yet

Josh McDaniels talked to ESPN radio after the draft. Here are some important quotes from the interview:
On Alphonso Smith still being avilable
“Yeah, that’s right. We were one of those teams that thought if we were fortunate enough to have a chance to get him where we got him, we were going to take the opportunity to do that. In our minds, we had four first-round selections, you know, this year and next year, and where we had Alphonso graded, we felt like we got three of them this year.”
On selecting Knowshon Moreno with the #12 pick
“This guy, he’s multi-faceted: we feel [...]

Josh McDaniels’ Crew To Be Trusted

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Now that the hype of the draft is over, the Broncos can take a collective breath and move forward with their planning and hard work. With the addition of 15 new players over the course of a week and more veteran free agents since the season ended, it’s time for this team to get to know eachother.
From what Josh McDaniels says, he tried to bring in players that are able to work together and aren’t “cancers” to a team. While Mike Shanahan was not great at doing that (i.e. Travis Henry, Maurice Clarett, Todd Sauerbrun), McDaniels believes that this plan [...]

Broncos Go Defense With 18th Pick

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Broncos turned their act around and drafted DE Robert Ayers (Tenn) with the 18th pick. According to scouting reports Ayers is
” A powerful lineman on the outside with a natural burst and very impressive pop on contact. Does a great job changing his pass rush between speed and power and uses his length and suddenness well to disengage from blocks. Has great closing speed on the outside and dips well to gain leverage off the edge. Plays strong at the point of attack vs. the run.”

The Broncos 12th Pick

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos, Draft, Video | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Broncos surprised a lot of people by not trading up. They surprised even more people when they selected running back, Knowshon Moreno (Georgia) instead of a defensive player such as Brian Orakpo (Texas). I would’ve loved to see them pick Orakpo instead. In the off season, Josh McDaniels brought in J.J. Arrington, LaMont Jordan, and Correll Buckhalter. Not to mention they have Ryan Torain coming back from injury. Going with a back was a ridiculous move even knowing how much talent Moreno has. The Broncos already have enough backs. Anyway, I don’t want to sour Moreno’s welcome party, so here’s his [...]
