2009 NFL Schedule

This time of year is always so busy in the sporting world. March Madness just ended, baseball started up again, and the regular season in the NBA winds down. Today is a big day for football, however. The NFL releases its 2009 schedule this evening. We already know which teams the Broncos will play, but dates are now set in stone. There will be live coverage on the NFL Network and ESPN will broadcast “Sports Center Special: Schedule Release.”

So what goes into making the NFL schedule? Well, leave it up to what else, but a computer to compile thousands of schedules (based on the league’s schedule system). From there, NFL executives narrow it down to the schedules that will help television ratings.

After tonight, the airline and hotel industries will see a spike in business with fans booking flights and rooms for the fall. Who says football ends in February?
