Broncos vs. Vikings: Inside The Villain’s Venue
To tackle the ins and outs of the Broncos week 13 opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, I asked Dan Zinski of The Viking Age some questions about the team that he knows better than anyone. The Vikings sit at the bottom of the NFC North, but hope to steal this one away from the Broncos. Without further ado, let’s go Inside the Villain’s Venue with The Viking Age. Q: The Vikings are 2-9 this season. Where does the blame rest? A: I think when you boil it right down the Vikings’ problems are mostly personnel-related. Leslie Frazier has taken a lot of [...]
Former Broncos DT McGlockton Dies At 42
Chester McGlockton, a four-time Pro Bowl defense tackle in the NFL, died early Wednesday morning at the age of 42, reportedly from a heart attack.
Jared Allen Talks About Broncos’ Von Miller
Von Miller has made himself one of the ultimate pass rushers in the league as a rookie. He’s third in the NFL in sacks with 11 takedowns on the season. The guy one spot above Miller is none other than 8-year veteran Jared Allen, who the Broncos will face this week in Minnesota. Allen has 14 sacks on the season. In six of his eight years in the NFL, he’s had at least 10 sacks. His best year came in ’07-’08 when he was with the Chiefs and had 15.5 sacks. Needless to say, Allen knows a thing or two [...]
Special Teams Kicking And Covering Broncos To Wins
The Denver Broncos special teams has played as much a role in the team’s recent success as the guys on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Britton Colquitt is averaging 47.6 yards per punt which is good enough for 7th in the league, and Matt Prater is hitting his field goals in crunch time. Quan Cosby is averaging 10.9 yards per punt return (11th in the NFL), and as a team the Broncos are 6th in the league in kick returns averaging 26.8 yards per return. The Broncos special teams took things to another level when they played [...]
New Head Coaches Flourishing In NFL Spotlight
Every NFL team had to deal with the constraints that the lockout put on them in the off season. The “no contact with the front office, coaches, team trainers, and team doctors” rule was applied to all 32 teams in the league. However, there were some teams that looked to be hit harder than others with this rule. Seven teams hired new head coaches in the off season. With that comes changes in assistant coaches, schemes, and player personnel. “The tough part about coming here was we had no off season, so you didn’t even get to walk through the [...]
Relive the Bronco/Charger Game One More Time
The Broncos get back to work on Wednesday as they start preparing to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. For the casual fan though we have nothing to do but wait until kickoff, which is a LONG five days away. To help pass the time, might I suggest tuning into the NFL Network this evening at 7:30 pm MST for a replay of the Denver Bronco 16-13 overtime victory against the San Diego Chargers. Usually, I wouldn’t suggest living in the past or dwelling on any victory too long but given some of the disappointments that we Bronco fans have [...]
Broncos’ Kyle McCarthy Gets Second Chance
The guy worked harder than a Grand Canyon pack mule. Beads of sweat pored off his head, muscles ached, plays were studied, and what it got Kyle McCarthy was a spot on the roster, albeit the practice roster, but it was a spot reserved just for him. It’s said that luck comes when preparation meets opportunity. Opportunity has come for McCarthy, an undrafted second year safety from Youngstown, Ohio. His luck changed when he was elevated to the Broncos active roster on Monday. CB Cassius Vaughn was put on the IR after breaking his leg against the Chargers which left [...]
AFC West Breakdown: Week 12
November and December usually separate the good teams from the great teams in the NFL. In the AFC West there are just two teams that are currently vying for the division crown. Realistically it would take a lot for the Chiefs and the Chargers to make it into postseason play. Let’s take a look at what happened and what’s to come. Denver Broncos (6-5): Looking Back: The Broncos make it a clean sweep in the AFC West on the road this year. They’ve won four straight and their last five of six. Tebow Time has become cheering time because all [...]
Willis McGahee Carrying Broncos On His Back
With 117 yards on the ground against the Chargers, Willis McGahee now has five 100-yard games this season. He is averaging 77.5 rushing yards per game which is good enough for 12th in the league. That’s the reason why Broncos running back coach Eric Studesville strongly urged the Broncos front office to pursue McGahee this off season. “They [McGahee and Studesville] had a past together in Buffalo so he came strongly recommended, and he’s come as advertised,” John Fox said. Not only has he helped the Broncos lead the NFL in rushing with 159.7 yards per game, but he’s a leader [...]
Report Card: Broncos vs. Chargers
By Jim Lyles BRONCOS RUSH OFFENSE: Running back Willis McGahee was certainly deserving of a game ball as he rushed for 117 yards on 23 carries. McGhee’s 24-yard jaunt late in the overtime session led directly to Matt Prater’s 37-yard game winning field goal. The Broncos rushing attack racked up 208 yards for the game on the ground. Tim Tebow chipped in 67 rushing yards on 22 carries. The Broncos offensive line put in a full day’s work opening up running lanes. Grade: A+ BRONCOS PASS OFFENSE: Tebow’s accuracy improved as he completed half of his passes going 9-of-18 for 143 [...]
