Is it just me, or is this the most boring week in the NFL? It feels like the summer has dragged on long enough and we still have the Broncos playing one more preseason game sans starters. Let’s get this thing started already!
This week the Broncos made some cuts. They’ve cut receivers Samie Parker, Lorne Sam, and Taylor Jacobs. They also let defensive tackle Josh Mallard go, and they put defensive tackle Carlton Powell on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. That brings the roster down to the required (for today) 75.
In other news, Nate Webster beat out Niko Koutouvides for the starting job at [...]

Broncos-Packers Preseason Game
The Broncos may have lost last night’s preseason game to the Packers, but there were definitely some positives in last night’s game. After the starters for both teams played the entire first half, the Broncos had already put up 17 points to the Packers 13. Brandon Marshall made an incredible 49-yard grab for a TD and the running attack was back on track. Here’s a recap of the scoring drives from the Denver Post:
First Quarter
The Packers took the opening kickoff and drove 80 in 8 plays for the game’s first score, a 10-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to [...]
Fantasy Studs Or Duds?
To follow up on “Women Against Fantasy Sports Sucks,” some Fan-Sided bloggers present their own view on the cause.
The Dirty Bird was stunned at the site and gave his opinion on his own blog, Blogging Dirty:
“So here is my thoughts on something that many women regularly engage in and that I think is “stupid.” Candle Parties are the worst, these are just about the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. You get invited to a party where you sit and eat food and drink alcohol (nothing wrong so far). But then here is the fun part…. You get to buy [...]
What’s Age Got To Do With It?
Friday night at Invesco Field is Senior Citizens night. Ok, not really, but I think it should be considering four of the two team’s starting cornerbacks have 10 plus years of experience in the NFL. Not only do they have the experience, but they are arguably the top four corners in the league. Champ Bailey and Dre Bly are entering their 10th year while the Packers’ Al Harris and Charles Woodson are entering their 11th year. Combined the four have 128 interceptions and wisdom beyond their years.
These guys still believe that while they may have lost a step (physically), they make up for [...]
Rod Smith On Marshall’s Shoulder
Brandon Marshall is a lucky guy. He’s got the newly retired Rod Smith to talk to on a daily basis. Smith has become Marshall’s mentor, and the Broncos are not paying him a dime for getting the young wideout on the straight and narrow. In an interview, Smith said,
“We talk every other day. It’s kind of our standard thing. We have to talk. I’m on track with him, seeing how he’s doing. We probably talk more about life than football. Every time he does something right, I let him know. And every time he does something wrong, I let him know” [...]
Are you serious? There really is a site called Women Against Fantasy Sports (WAFS). I’m not even gonna link it, so you’ll have to do a google search yourself. I was tipped off to this site by Lion in Oil which posts a direct quote from the WAFS site:
“WomenAgainstFantasySports, or WAFS, was started by a woman with a dream. A dream that, as promised in the wedding vows she shared with her husband, would involve the daily joys of spending time with her best friend, her confidant, her love. Alas, the advent of fantasy sports has crushed her hopes and [...]

- It’s no secret that I like what Eddie Royal brings to the Broncos. Even Adam Jones was impressed by him.
- Speaking of Pacman, can anyone tell me how Broncos punter Sam Paulescu tackled him on the return?
- Should the Broncos put rookie back Ryan Torain on injured reserve? Torain thinks they shouldn’t.
- Tony Romo could have signed with the Broncos in 2003.
- The orange jersey’s will be back this season for two home games.
- In case you missed Saturday’s game, you can watch highlights here.
Broncos ‘D’ Give Fans Hope
It tuns out that the Broncos are quite talented on defense. They held the Cowboys’ starters scoreless in Saturday’s 23-13 preseason victory. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I hate reading too much into preseason games. However, this is a great sign for the Broncos’ defense and if they can follow the strategy they used against Dallas in the regular season, they could be a top defensive team in the league. I know what you’re thinking. The Broncos practiced against them for two days before they played the game. They knew what to expect from Tony Romo and [...]
