The Broncos will trade up with some of their draft picks and select running back Joe Mixon out of Oklahoma.  The Broncos are said to be very high on this running back, as detailed in my previous three round mock, and why not?  Mixon is one of the top talents in this entire draft, who is only around in the second round due to his off-field incident that took place years ago.

On the field though Mixon is a player that can challenge Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey for the best running back in the entire draft.

At 6’1″, 226 pounds, the player Mixon compares to most in the NFL is Le’Veon Bell.  Mixon is and extremely quick-twitch player that shows exceptional patience while the hole opens up.  Like Bell, he changes direction in a hurry.  On top of that, Mixon is incredible catching the ball out of the backfield.

In 2016 Mixon caught 37 balls for 538 yards and 5 touchdowns.  This guy is a playmaker and would fit in perfectly with what offensive coordinator Mike McCoy would like to do on offense.

Joe Mixon will challenge for the top running back in this class, and perhaps top running back in the league.  Another role for him on the Broncos would be kick returner.  In 2016, Mixon returned 21 kicks for a 23 yard average and scored a touchdown.  The Broncos may not choose to use him in that role, but it has been a sore spot for years and he could provide a boost.

In any case, Joe Mixon will be an incredibly valuable weapon to take a lot of pressure off Paxton Lynch (or Trevor Siemian.)  The Broncos have cleared Mixon of character concerns, and should do whatever it takes to move up and get this guy.  He is a game-changing player, and a perfect fit for the Denver Broncos.
