PO’s Year In Review: The Top 11 Broncos Stories Of 2011
2011 was an eventful one for the Denver Broncos. They brought John Elway back on board the ship, hired a new coach, drafted a star at the No. 2 spot, and sifted through the lockout all while not really knowing who their starting quarterback was going to be. Then a month into the regular season they of course sat Kyle Orton in favor of Tim Tebow. They put the option offense on the runway and it took off, coming back in style. They rode a six game winning streak to the top of the AFC West and they made the [...]
Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Injury Report
For it being the last week of the regular season, the injury report is looking pretty good. Brian Dawkins is the only one that most likely won’t play on Sunday. The Chiefs’ list is short as well, but they have too many of their stars on the IR. Let’s take a look: Broncos: S Brian Dawkins (Neck) – Doubtful S David Bruton (Achilles) – Probable S Quinton Carter (Hip) – Probable CB Chris Harris (Neck) – Probable LB Von Miller (Thumb) – Probable Chiefs: RB Jackie Battle (Foot) – Out S Jon McGraw (Ankle) – Doubtful WR Jeremy Horne (Illness) [...]
A Must Win for the Broncos
If you’re even remotely aware of the National Football League, you definitely know the Denver Broncos have a must-win game this week when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Denver to close out the 2011 season. If the Broncos win, they are in the playoffs; if they lose, the Broncos will need help from the San Diego Chargers (Oakland plays at San Diego in Week 17) in order for their season to continue. All that being said, there is another reason this is a must-win game for the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, I’m no longer a Colorado resident, and I find [...]
Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Game Preview
As we roll into the final week of the season we have the Denver Broncos (8-7) hosting the Kansas City Chiefs (6-9). The major national headline grabber here is Kyle Orton’s return to Denver whereas for Broncos fans, it’s all about whether the Broncos can win and advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The Chiefs lead the series 55-48, but the Broncos won the last meeting 17-10 when the teams met November 13. Let’s go inside the matchup. Offense Broncos: Broncos Country has turned into turnover country with the team being -7 in the turnover differential [...]
The Broncos meet up with the Chiefs for the second time this season. The first time they met the Broncos emerged with a 17-10 victory. Since then the Chiefs have gone 2-4. I asked Patrick Allen, editor of Arrowhead Addict, what has been going on with the Chiefs. Allen knows the Chiefs better than almost anyone in the nation so let’s find out what he thinks about Kyle Orton, whether the Chiefs can stop the Broncos run game, and what his prediction is for Sunday’s game. With that said, let’s go Inside the Villain’s Venue with Arrowhead Addict. Q: I [...]
Kyle Orton, Dwayne Bowe Could Be Deadly Against Broncos
Stopping the Chiefs offensively is all about stopping the Kyle Orton-to-Dwayne Bowe connection. The last time the Chiefs and the Broncos met in November, Champ Bailey held Bowe to 2 catches for 17 yards. Granted Matt Cassel and Tyler Palko were the starting quarterbacks for the Chiefs, not Orton. Nevertheless, Dwayne Bowe is one of the best receivers in the league. “He’s tough every time I face him,” Bailey said of Bowe. “He’s one of my biggest challenges. I look forward to it every time because I know he’s going to give me his best shot, and I’m going to [...]
Chiefs Doing Anything They Can To Beat Broncos
The Kansas City Chiefs may be out of the race, but make no mistake about it, they are in it to win on Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs and interim coach Romeo Crennel will do everything they can to beat the Denver Broncos Sunday and that means playing their most experienced players. “Probably, I’m going to go the way it has been because we feel like the guys that we have been playing with basically have given us the best chance to win,” Crennel told reporters yesterday at his weekly press conference. “I don’t know that making a change now [...]
Broncos Using Recent Mistakes As Fuel
The general consensus in the Denver Broncos locker room is to remember the past, but don’t live in it. That’s especially true for the Broncos offense who has turned the ball over 7 times in the last two games. Tim Tebow was responsible for 5 of those turnovers (4 interceptions, 1 fumble), but John Fox cautions that you can’t put it all on Tebow. “I don’t know that you can pin that all on Tim,” Fox said. “In fact I know you can’t. He had one of them two weeks ago. He was involved in the four (in Buffalo), but [...]
Broncos’ Von Miller Stalling At Wrong Time
The Denver Broncos drafted nine players in the 2011 draft and they are getting a lot of playing time. In fact, the Broncos rookies are averaging an NFL high 5.8 starts and 407.6 plays from scrimmage this year. The most notable rookie on the roster is without a doubt Von Miller. Miller was selected for his first Pro Bowl appearance with 12.0 sacks on the season. However, the rookie has had a major drop off in performance in the last two games. Against the Patriots and the Bills he had just one tackle in each contest and zero sacks. “There’s that [...]
