For another humorous twist on the Jay Cutler-Josh McDaniels drama, I bring you some “Sports Pairings That Just Didn’t Work.” What immediately comes to mind? Shaq vs. Kobe? Manny Ramirez vs. the Red Sox? Jerry Jones vs. Jimmy Johnson? Well, the Pyle of List has got those covered and more. I would have to list Al Davis and Lane Kiffin there as well. They also forgot Pacman Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
Who else are they missing, Broncos fans?

The Worst Sports Pairings
Pat Bowlen Reflects on Lou Saban
The first “name” head coach for the Broncos died yesterday. Lou Saban was 87 years old and played a huge role in the Denver Broncos franchise as well as other NFL teams. From Pat Bowlen:
“Lou Saban should be credited as the individual who first brought respectability to the Denver Broncos. Even though I was not here at the time, upon buying the Broncos in 1984, I began learning the history of the club and realized Lou’s importance to this franchise. It was Lou who moved the Broncos into their first training facility and changed the team’s helmet design to the [...]
CLIP OF THE WEEK!
With all of the past troubled players the Broncos have had the team needs a hero. Good news…a familiar face is coming back to save the franchise in our clip of the week!
Broncos Worst Man Drafted
Mike Klis and Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post sat down with Josh McDaniels at the owners meeting to discuss various topics related to the Broncos. For highlights, go here.
In honor of March Madness, FanSided.com sports network is running a tournament to determine the worst man drafted in the NFL. A blogger from each team nominated two of their team’s worst draft picks. For the Broncos, I nominated Maurice Clarett and Tommy Maddox. So go and vote for the worst man drafted!
I’m sick of reading about it, thinking about it, and discussing it. I just wish this Old West style standoff would end. Josh McDaniels and Jay Cutler were supposed to have a one-on-one phone conversation last night. As far as we know, it never happened. Messages were exchanged, but the much needed dialogue never took place. The closest McD and Cutler came to each other was when McD held up a retro Broncos jersey with Cutler’s name and number on it at the owners meeting. With his big smile, the whole thing was just plain ironic.
Nothing is going to work until the two parties talk to eachother. One “Jay Cutler WILL BE our [...]
Josh McDaniels came out and said Jay Cutler is the Broncos QB in an interview yesterday. He said,
“He’s our quarterback. We can’t predict the future. He’s our quarterback. We want him to be our quarterback.” (Denver Post)
Question is: Is it too late? Did McD already put too big of a dent into their relationship, or will Cutler come around, take his Denver homes off the market, and stick with the team he started with? In this week’s issue of Sports Illustrated, Peter King writes about how the Cutler-McD bond could be a hard one to mend. A couple of interesting [...]
Broncos Thinking Defense
Let’s focus on something other than the Cutler situation. How about we look at some draft prospects. The Broncos are undoubtedly going to draft a defensive player (unless they get the #1 overall pick for Cutler). The team has met with Texas DE Brian Orakpo, USC linebacker Brian Cushing, and Ohio State CB Malcolm Jenkins. They have also worked out with Cincinnati DE Connor Barwin and Maryland CB Kevin Barnes.
Here are some highlight tapes of all of the defensive guys the Broncos worked out with:
1. Brian Orakpo
2. Brian Cushing
3. Malcolm Jenkins
4. Connor Barwin
5. Kevin Barnes
Now that’s something to get excited about!
CLIP OF THE WEEK!
Remember the days of the “Orange Crush” defense? It feels like it has been an eternity since the Broncos have had jaw dropping hard hits. Next year should be different. Until then lets look back at one of Denver’s best hitters…Steve Atwater. The infamous Atwater hit on the “Nigerian Nightmare” Christian Okoye is our clip of the week!
I have a feeling that come Monday or Tuesday morning, the Broncos will be in the headlines once again. This time for a valid reason. Pat Bowlen and Brian Xanders are heading down to the owners meeting in California this weekend. With all 32 teams represented, trade offers for Jay Cutler will be made. That’s guaranteed. In fact, the Broncos have already received offers from four teams. If Cutler has not made an attempt to communicate with the organization, I’m sure Bowlen and Xanders will entertain those offers.
To lighten up the mood, take a look at this video. We could all use a little humor at a [...]
