Mike Shanahan Links

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

As much good as Mike Shanahan has done for the Broncos organization, he has not produced good results lately. Unfortunately, in the world of sports, outstanding coaches are fired not for their lack of heart/effort, but for lack of winning. It’s a business, and just as if you were not meeting deadlines or producing quality work at your job, you would get the boot too. That’s life. All this city can do it thank Shanahan for his efforts, and move on to supporting the next coach of the Broncos.
With that said, here are some links related to Mike Shanahan’s exit:

Shanahan Done In Denver

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Mike Shanahan was officially fired as the Broncos head coach today. Read the details here. As an initial reaction, I’m sad that Shanahan will not be pacing the sidelines next season, but I see where Pat Bowlen is coming from. When your team posts a 24-24 record in the past three seasons, changes need to be made.
Shanahan had a great run in Denver. He allowed this city to celebrate back-to-back Super Bowl wins in the late 90s.
As for a new coach for the Broncos, I would love to see Bill Cowher take the reins of this team.
What do you [...]

Broncos Resolutions For The New Year

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Many people set New Years’ resolutions. Personally, I’m not a fan of them because I think if you’re going to make a change in your life, you have 364 other days to initiate it. However, I think these Broncos should consider these resolutions some time in the next year:
Jay Cutler: Needs to work on not forcing passes into Brandon Marshall. If you’re a receiver in the NFL, chances are you have good hands. Don’t be afraid to toss the ball to other people, Jay. They will most likely catch it.
Brandon Marshall: Touchdowns are scored by running forwards after the catch. Quit moving [...]

Broncos 2009 Schedule

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Breaking News, Broncos | COMMENTS: 25 Comments

Now that the season is over, we can look ahead, right? The 2009 Broncos schedule came out today. Dates and times will be posted in April, but for now, here are their opponents:
Home: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New England, Dallas, N.Y. Giants
Away: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Washington
There are already a couple of games to circle: Any team in the NFC East, Baltimore, and Pitt. What a tough schedule!

Broncos Done After San Diego Slaughter

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It’s over just like that. There’s nothing I (or anybody else) can do about it. The Broncos season officially ended with a 52-21 thumping from the Chargers. If you’re calling it Hochuli Karma, or a defenseless tragedy, you would be right. If you’re calling your team the Donkeys, that’s fine too. They deserve it.
Watching yesterday’s game was about as much fun as driving a nail through an infected toenail with a sledge hammer. The Broncos didn’t deserve a playoff spot. Maybe we should have realized that when they lost to the Chiefs in September, or the Raiders in November. Maybe we should have realized it when they got a beat down from [...]

Why Being A Broncos Fan Is Better Than Being A Chargers Fan

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

10 reasons why being a Broncos fan is better than being a Chargers fan:
1. Jay Cutler and Philip Rivers may not belong on the cover of GQ, but at least Cutler doesn’t look like Sloth from The Goonies.

2. The city of San Diego has hosted the Super Bowl two more times than the Chargers have played in it.
3. You can call them the San Diego ReChargers over the summer as they grieve their 2008 season.
4. Scifres looks like it could be an STD. Not your punter’s last name.
5. The Broncos are nearly out of the playoffs for their inconsistent play. [...]

AFC West Breakdown: Week 16

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just because the AFC West stinks doesn’t mean there can’t be a dramatic ending to the season. The Broncos and Chargers are the ones keeping it interesting while the Raiders and the Chiefs prepare for major changes in their personnel department. The beginning of the season predicted great things from these teams. With a division that consists of Darren McFadden, Philip Rivers, Brandon Marshall, and Larry Johnson, one would think that all of these [...]

Broncos In Six Words

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Literary legend has it that when asked to write a story in six words or less, Ernest Hemingway produced the following bite-size bio:
“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
Albert Camus, the French existentialist, did it in one word less when he left his suicide note:
“No more words. Only silence.”
Whether Hemingway’s legend is true or not, ever since it entered the rumor mill’s circulation, the six-word memoir has been a favorite exercise of writers, word-lovers and storytellers of all types. A publication known as Smith Magazine set out to collect as many varied six-word memoirs from knowns and unknowns alike, and finally published [...]

Broncos V. Bills Preview

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s a good thing the Broncos drew the Bills late in the season. The Bills started off 4-0 before going 2-8 in their next 10 games. The Broncos are serious about reaching the playoffs, and they want their final game of the regular season in San Diego to be meaningless. Thus, they must win at home this weekend. The Broncos insist that they don’t need a San Diego loss this week to make the postseason. Let’s hope not or else there’s little reason to believe the Broncos would win their first playoff game. The Bills come in after losing to the Jets last week in the final minutes of the [...]
