The Denver Broncos were able to mount a fourth quarter comeback to defeat a tough opponent at home in Week 2. Stop me if you've heard that before...
For whatever reason, the fourth quarter comebacks have become a staple of how this team wins games. At some point this year, the fourth quarter magic has to not be a thing, as the Broncos do need to own a game from start to finish, or at least play with a lead in the first half.
Quarterback Bo Nix leads the charge with these comebacks, and after what was clearly an up-and-down performance, let's dive into what his grade should be for his Week 2 efforts.
Grading Denver Broncos' QB Bo Nix's performance in Week 2
The Bad
Honestly, the entire first half was a disaster for the Broncos. The team had two key trips in the red zone and only managed three points. Nix tossed an ugly interception in the end zone as well, and while the idea of throwing Courtland Sutton a jump ball against a 5-10 defensive back isn't inherently bad, he was falling backwards in the pocket and obviously threw the ball off his back foot.
The Broncos only allowed 10 points in the first half, so the defense was fine, but the offense just didn't have any juice. Nix looked uncomfortable in the pocket and clearly didn't want to push the ball down the field.
The Good
And, in typical Broncos fashion, a switch flipped in the second half. Denver only scored three points in the third quarter, but managed to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Nix actually ended up with a 122.1 passer rating in the second half and looked comfortable and in command of the offense.

Nix pushed the ball down the field and created plays with his legs as well. Even with Denver in a situation where they had to force the issue a bit through the air, Nix was still able to produce. This does speak to a bigger issue as to why it takes until the fourth quarter for the Broncos offense to wake up, but it's good that we again saw this happen.
Had Nix been able to play the first half like he did the second half, Denver likely puts up 30+ points and flirts with a blowout. While you may be annoyed that Nix and the Broncos don't seem to take the game seriously until the final quarters, it's much more ideal that they play better as the game goes on than the opposite - starting fast and cooling off in the end.
The Grade: B+
The Broncos won the game, and the quarterback was a driving force as to why. Nix gets a B+ for his play in Week 2, as he outdueled Trevor Lawrence, who had been playing lights out for weeks, even dating back to 2025, and the most important thing, the win, went to the Broncos.
It was not at all perfect, but Nix was just shy of 300 total yards and again came through for his team.
