The Denver Broncos are 2-1 through three games for the first time in the Sean Payton era, and they've done it with a rather brutal stretch of games, having beaten Jacksonville and Los Angeles at home in Weeks 2 and 3 after losing to Kansas City in Week 1.

Through these three weeks, there is clearly a lot to clean up, as the defense has struggled to stop the run, and the offense just refuses to get going in the first half. If there was such a thing as an ugly 2-1 record, the Broncos probably have it.

But through these three weeks, it's clear that one of the major issues on defense from last year is trending toward being fixed,

The Denver Broncos already have 4 interceptions in 2026

Denver has forced four total turnovers through three weeks, and all four have been interceptions. It is worth mentioning that, through three games in 2025, the Broncos also had four turnovers, but the team did not intercept their fourth pass until Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Furthermore, across the first nine games of 2025, Denver had forced a turnover in just four of those games. Thus far, the Broncos have forced at least one turnover in all three games. Week 1 was a Brandon Jones interception. Week 2 was a Riley Moss interception, and Week 3 was a pair of Talanoa Hufanga interceptions.

As of now, the Broncos four interceptions rank as the most in the league. An extension of that is the team allowing an opposing passer rating of 74.3, which is the third-best in the NFL. While the Broncos don't have a fumble recovery or anything, getting in the turnover column each game thus far is a great sign that this issue from last year could be fixed.

Denver had just 10 interceptions all of 2025, but are now on pace for 23 this year and are nearly halfway to their 2025 total. What the team might lose with not having John Franklin-Myers and Jonathon Cooper, they could gain with turnovers.

It is early, but things are pointing up, and if the Broncos are able to force turnovers during this stretch where the schedule is the toughest, that could paint an even better picture later in the season when the quality of opponents decline.

The team does check most of the boxes on defense, but finally getting that turnover box checked this year would give the team a runway to win it all.
