The Denver Broncos have added more competition to the right tackle position, signing veteran Cameron Fleming who played for the team in 2021.

As Denver Broncos training camp gets underway, you’ve always got to keep your head on a swivel.

The roster can change at any moment.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero — who is one of the most connected people to general manager George Paton in the NFL media — the Broncos have re-signed veteran offensive tackle Cameron Fleming.

The Broncos followed up Pelissero’s report by confirming the move.

To make room for Fleming on the roster, the team decided to let go of off-ball linebacker Kadofi Wright, an undrafted rookie free agent who was an intriguing name at a very thin position.

Prior to this move, the team had seven off-ball linebackers on the roster and now they have six.

It wasn’t long ago that the Broncos carried six off-ball linebackers onto the active 53-man roster, so you can’t help but wonder if the times have significantly changed for this team to the point that we could actually see only three or maybe four off-ball linebackers on the roster heading into the season.

The move to sign Cameron Fleming is fascinating for a variety of reasons.

We all know Billy Turner went on the PUP yesterday and this could be viewed as a “corresponding” move even though Turner still counts against the 90-man roster.

Fleming started four games for the Broncos last year at the right tackle position and was a lot better than I think many had anticipated based on the fact that he was essentially the team’s third option at the position.

Fleming has plenty of experience and he has plenty of experience at a variety of positions.

Remember, Nathaniel Hackett significantly values versatility in his offensive linemen.

Fleming has been a left tackle, right tackle, he’s played guard, he’s been an extra offensive lineman — he’s done just about everything.

That versatility can certainly come in handy and now the Denver Broncos have added to their abundance on the offensive line.

There are no fewer than 10 NFL-caliber offensive linemen on the roster at this point and the Broncos might not keep that many going into the season.

Could we be looking ahead to a trade of some sort? What do the Broncos have planned?

Just like Nathaniel Hackett said at his press conference on Tuesday, the offensive line is “interesting” and will remain a position group of focus going into training camp and preseason play.
