Denver Broncos 2021 draft surprises: A massive draft day trade

As quickly as quarterback rumors spread around the league, they seem to be shut down even quicker.

Right now, we know that Matthew Stafford will be playing for a new team in 2021, and we also know that Deshaun Watson still wants out of Houston, even if they hire a coach to his liking.  With that being said, I would be shocked if they weren’t traded by the time the 2021 NFL draft rolled around.

What would be an even more surprising event would be if the Broncos found themselves in one of these situations — on draft day. Usually, we are talking about teams trading up and down the draft board, but we do not usually have a major personnel trade on draft day.

Could it happen? Yep.  Will it happen? Probably not, but that’s the point. The Broncos’ quarterback situation still is not solved, as much as some of us like Drew Lock. This, to me, leaves the door just a crack open for a major quarterback trade.

And what better place for that trade to take place than draft day. With nine picks in the 2021 draft, and future picks on the table, George Paton could decide to call up Detroit, Atlanta, or Houston and gauge their interest in a trade.

While unlikely, it is not impossible, and Paton did say the team would look at every position, which includes quarterback.
