Other options/Conclusion

You could probably make a case for any team picking behind the Denver Broncos as to why they could or even should trade up.

Other teams needing quarterbacks would include the New England Patriots (15th pick), the Washington Football Team (19th pick), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (24th pick).

Any of those teams could make a strong offer to move up, especially Washington which has an extra pick in the third round already.

If the Denver Broncos decide (if George Paton decides) that the best option for this team in 2021 is to pass on the rookie quarterback class, the strength of this draft in the Broncos’ context is not necessarily with the top prospects.

Sure, a guy like Micah Parsons or Caleb Farley could be coveted with that selection. The positions the Denver Broncos have needs at right now, however — cornerback, linebacker, edge rusher, running back, safety — are all strong in their depth and not necessarily the talent at the top of each position.

Having a variety of top 100 picks to work with again in 2021 could be very beneficial to the Denver Broncos and that 9th overall spot could wind up being prime real estate for big trades to happen.
