Denver Broncos: 10 defensive prospects to consider in 2021 NFL Draft
Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
If you are looking for an absolute dog at corner willing to be a capable tackler, Jayce Horn is exactly the type of player Denver and Vic Fangio could be looking for.
Horn would be inserted into a secondary with Michael Ojemudia and Parnell Motley who already bring a physical presence to the secondary. Also, like Patrick Surtain II, Horn is the son of a former NFL player. Joe Horn is his father who played most of his career with the New Orleans Saints. Horn brings the same swagger as his dad, but to the defensive side of the ball.
Horn is another boundary corner who has that size, length, and physicality to challenge a team’s number one wideout. He will have sticky coverage as evidenced by his 2020 tape. Even though there are at times missed tackles he does not shy away from getting mixed up in the running game. Run defense for a corner is one that separates a good corner from an elite corner.
If you add Horn to this secondary, not one corner on that secondary will be afraid of anyone.
One trait that jumped off the page with Horn in 2020 was his ball skills. He added a true all-around ability with a physical presence. If Horn continues that upward trend, he will find himself as a nice consolation prize if Denver passes on Surtain II and Farley.
Israel Mukuamu was the guy entering 2020, but no one expected his teammate Horn to do what he did this last College Football season.
