Jeff Driskel has posted better numbers than Drew Lock

This is Drew Lock’s team and he is going to get every chance to prove that, but he hasn’t been great through five games, at least not from a statistical standpoint.

Lock was injured in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, forcing the team to turn to Jeff Driskel, who the team signed in the offseason as a backup. He was a backup the team was hoping would never have to play meaningful downs.

Anyone who has watched the Broncos with Driskel this year would likely admit that the team looked pretty bad. But Driskel’s stats are better than Lock’s. Have a look:

Passing Yards- Driskel: 432   Lock: 425

Touchdowns- Driskel: 3   Lock: 1

Completion percentage- Driskel: 54.7   Lock: 53.2

QB Rating- 78.4   Lock: 66.9

This is not to say that Driskel should be the starting quarterback over Lock by any stretch, but it is to say that Lock needs to be a lot better than he has been. In fact, if you were to ask who the best quarterback has been for the team this year, it was arguably the performance put forth by Brett Rypien in the team’s win over the Jets.
