De’Vante Bausby

This roster move was arguably one of the most surprising of training camp. From the sounds of it, Bausby had a pretty successful training camp and saw meaningful football minutes in 2019 prior to a season-ending injury. In fact, there was speculation that Bausby was likely to win the No. 3 starting spot, so this move was especially surprising. Factor in Denver trading Isaac Yiadom to the New York Giants earlier this week, and this move just doesn’t make a lot of sense.

The Broncos must feel pretty confident in the guys left to compete for the third starting spot, such as Davontae Harris, Duke Dawson, Michael Ojemudia and Essang Bassey. However, if one had to speculate which cornerback would be leaving Denver on Saturday, it would not have been Bausby.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while Bausby could rejoin the team if he clears the waiver wire, but the question is: will he clear the waiver? Bausby is oozing with potential, and the remaining 31 teams would be missing out if they did not claim him.

Hopefully, Bausby clears the waiver wire so he can remain with the Broncos as a member of the practice squad, and receive another opportunity to become a member of the active roster.
