Fred Brown

This was another disappointing roster move after all of the buzz that young Fred Brown had generated during training camp. When Mike Klis broke the news this morning, he acknowledged Brown’s talent, especially at special teams, but recognized the current crowding of the wide receiver room.

It is true, that the Broncos have a large group of wide receivers. After obvious starters Courtland Sutton and rookie Jerry Jeudy, there are guys like DaeSean Hamilton, KJ Hamler, Tim Patrick, Diontae Spencer and Tyrie Cleveland fighting for a spot.

Besides Brown, the wide receiver room was already a little emptier with the Broncos releasing JuWann Winfree, a local talent with an injury history who just hasn’t quite gotten his opportunity to shine yet. However, Brown had impressed so far, and this move is just a bummer, especially considering that overall, the wide receiver room is pretty unproven.

There is a chance that Brown could clear waivers and end up on the Broncos’ practice squad, where he has already spent time. It would be awesome if the Broncos were able to hang on to him.
