Denver Broncos: Constructing an All-Decade Team from 2010-2019
Special Teams
Kicker, Matt Prater: Believe it or not, one of the toughest decisions for this list was at the kicker position.
Brandon McManus will be entering his seventh season with the team and Prater was only with the Broncos for five seasons in this decade. But the decision was made based on two things,
First, Prater holds the all-time NFL record for the longest made field goal in NFL history, a 64-yarder he kicked in the 2013 season. Second, he was more accurate than McManus. Prater made 85.1 percent of his field goals with the Broncos, better than the 81.5 percent that McManus has connected on.
McManus has the kind of leg to kick one further than 64 yards, so maybe one day he’ll knock Prater out of that top spot.
Punter, Britton Colquitt: There isn’t much to say about punters and while Colquitt was far from the best the Broncos have ever had, he was the best this decade. The position has been a bit of a mess since he left the team following the 2015 season.
Other punters the Broncos have had since are Riley Dixon and Colby Wadman, two guys who have left plenty to be desired.
