Denver Broncos: Five reasons to be pessimistic for 2017
2. New coaching staff will take time to adjust
The Denver Broncos of 2015 were atypical of what we see from an NFL team with a brand new coaching staff. The Broncos didn’t have a ton of roster turnover other than guys who were replaced due to injury, and Gary Kubiak and his staff had been together for a lot of years in the NFL before joining forces in Denver.
The fact that the Broncos won a Super Bowl in 2015 shouldn’t necessarily be an indicator that they can or will do it again in 2017, as this group of coaches is led by a rookie head coach in Vance Joseph, who only has one year of coordinator experience in addition to never having been a head coach in the NFL.
Not only are the Broncos rolling with a rookie at head coach, Joe Woods is a first-time defensive coordinator and Brock Olivo is a first-time special teams coordinator. These guys all know football really well, but managing a team and moving into a new role could take more time than Broncos fans are anticipating.
