Tight end Austin Traylor was signed to the Broncos’ practice squad on December 21st, 2016, and signed to a futures deal at the end of the season. The team has gotten a bit of an extended look at him, and rumor has it, he’s been one of the top surprise players of OTAs thus far…

The Broncos have a number of guys at the tight end position, but no one really seems to have a stranglehold on any particular slot. It would seem most likely that the team will keep Virgil Green, Jeff Heuerman, A.J. Derby, and Jake Butt, but if something comes up like an injury or trade, it could pave the way for someone like Traylor to nail down a roster spot.

His performance at training camp and in the preseason could also force the Broncos to make a deal for one of their other tight ends.
