How would you say the Chicago Bears have done this offseason? Is there a move you like? Is there a move you would have done differently?

Whether or not they want to admit it, the Bears are in the middle of a rebuild. GM Ryan Pace and John Fox have cleaned house with only 21 of their 90 roster spots carryovers from the old regime. That’s rebuilding.

I think the Bears did a decent job this offseason. They shored up a few key areas, especially in the defensive front-7. They think Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman will help bolster the run defense from the inside linebacker spots. DE Aikim Hicks could have a big impact on the front.

I would say that the moves I don’t like are some of the departures. One of the most glaring holes on the Bears is the tight end position, where they traded away Martellus Bennett and didn’t really add anyone to fill that void. It’s clear that Bennett and the organization had some “philosophical” differences, but the Bears will miss his versatility in the running and passing games.

Losing other veterans like running back Matt Forte is an inevitable part of the business side of things, but still leave you to wonder if the Beats have adequately replaced him. An interesting battle to watch on Thursday will be the Bears running backs and to see how reps are split between Jeremy Langford, Ka”Deem Carey, rookie Jordan Howard, and veterans Jacquizz Rodgers and Senorise Perry.
