Nathan Theus

One of the most underrated, underappreciated aspects of a football game is the snap. I’m not talking about the quarterback-center exchange, but the exchange between long-snapper and punter/holder.

Nathan Theus was the first undrafted player who reportedly signed in Denver, and while other teams (Arizona) were more bold and drafted their long snapper of the future, the Broncos waited until after the draft for this specialist.

That’s not a knock against Theus, who is a very good snapper, either.

If Theus can win the job, he would beat out Casey Kreiter, who has spent some time in the NFL already. He would also extend a long list of undrafted players to make the Broncos’ opening day roster.

He’ll have to prove he has great chemistry and timing with whoever the Broncos’ punter is and kicker Brandon McManus.
