With a huge divisional game looming in two weeks, the NFL has flexed the Denver Broncos game against the Chiefs to Sunday Night Football.

The Denver Broncos will host the Kansas City Chiefs in two weeks in what will be a huge divisional match-up.  The game was originally slated to be played at the traditional afternoon start time.  Given the stature of this game, the NFL has decided to flex the game to NBC’s prime time slot for Sunday Night Football.

Division Implications

More from Predominantly Orange

The Denver Broncos are coming off of an enormous win against the New Orleans Saints to improve their mark to 7-3.  Meanwhile, the Chiefs fought back from a 17-0 deficit to defeat the Carolina Panthers and improve their overall record to 7-2.

The Broncos have a bye week this week to rest up and hopefully welcome back key defensive players Derek Wolfe and Aqib Talib from injury.  The top of the AFC West is very strong, with both the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs sitting at 7-2, and the Broncos in a close third at 7-3.  While the Broncos are on bye, the Raiders and Chiefs both host the Texans and Buccaneers respectively.  Given the strength of their opposition, it wouldn’t be a far cry to imagine that both the Chiefs and Raiders will be 8-2 going into week 12.

The AFC West is still completely up for grabs.  The Broncos will need to deliver perhaps their finest performance of the season in order to beat the Chiefs.  The Chiefs are playing some of the best football in the league currently.  If they beat the Bucs, they will come to Denver riding a 6-game winning streak.

Prime Time

With the game being flexed to Prime time, that will mean that both games against the Chiefs this season will be played under the lights.  The Broncos second meeting with the Chiefs will take place on Christmas Night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.  This game will be that much more important as that would figure to be a very tough task for the Broncos.  Denver has to play better than they did against the Raiders on Sunday Night football.  Returning two starters to the defense would be a great start but they will need more on offense.  Gary Kubiak devised, perhaps, his best game plan of the season to go against the Saints.

The offense has to improve in order to beat the Chiefs.  Trevor Siemian won’t get away with the mistakes he made against the Saints.  The line must be more efficient.  However, a win like the Broncos just had vaults them into their bye week with some needed momentum.  This could prove to jump-start this team into the toughest part of their schedule.
