Tom Jackson spent his fourteen year career with the Denver Broncos as a linebacker. His work as a broadcaster has earned him a prestigious award from radio and television.

During the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement, Tom Jackson is going to be honored with this year’s Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award. This award is honored to individuals whom have made “longtime exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.”

Tom Jackson will be presented with the award on August 8th.

Most Broncos fans remember Tom Jackson from his Orange Crush defense playing days from 1973-1986. During his 14 year career with the Denver Broncos, he recorded 13 sacks, 20 interceptions and three defensive touchdowns. Behind Jason Elam and John Elway, Tom Jackson has played the third most games in a Broncos uniform.

After retiring from the league, Tom Jackson went into radio and television with ESPN. He teamed up with Chris Berman to host shows such as NFL Countdown and NFL Primetime, where Tom Jackson is well known for his segment on Monday Night Countdown called “Jacked Up.”

His experience with ESPN allowed him the opportunities to be a host on various Denver Broncos shows. He was a co-host on both the weekly show “Broncos Beat” on KCNC-TV and a post game show on KUSA-TV.

This is a great honor for Tom Jackson. I never got to see him play, but watching him as a NFL analysis and on the various ESPN shows was always a blast to watch. While it is noted that he favors the Denver Broncos whenever it came to talking about them, it meant a lot more to Broncos fans whenever he talked about his opinions on the team or the struggles of the divisional opponents.

Congratulations on a great honor and for being recognized for the work you have placed after retirement Tom Jackson. Broncos fans look forward to hearing from you in 2015.
