Stack The Cards Against ‘Em

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Gameday | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Make the Broncos go on the road. Make them play the top team in the AFC East, one of the best divisions in the league. Throw some bad weather in there, and a lingering injury bug, and what do the Broncos do? They beat the Jets by 17, put 34 points on the board, get a defensive score, and go up 3 games in the AFC West. Where was that last week against the Raiders? I wouldn’t mind if the Broncos played on the road for the rest of the season. Stick them on airplanes until February a la the New [...]

The New York Times And P.O. Look At The Broncos-Jets Game

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Instead of doing a weekly preview for the Broncos game, I had the chance to ask John Woods a few questions about the Broncos-Jets match-up. Woods is a staff editor for The New York Times, and a contributor to the Times‘ football blog, The Fifth Down. To see my prediction for the game, check out The Fifth Down. Here are John’s answers to my questions:
1. If the Jets played the Broncos at the beginning of the season (when the
Broncos were 3-0), who would have won that game and why?

This is an interesting question, actually. The Jets have probably been
improving steadily [...]

AFC West Breakdown: Week 12

There is a lot of heartache in the AFC West right now. The only ones that might muster a smile this week are the Oakland Raiders. Yet, even they stand 3-8. The Broncos unexpectedly played like a porta potty smells, the Chiefs are playing a little better, but still can’t come up with a win, and the Chargers lost another one in the final seconds of the game. I don’t know what’s worse: Letting the offensively deprived [...]

Let’s Hear It From The Fans

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I still don’t really know what to say about yesterday’s loss. Usually, on Monday’s, I break down the game and throw in a few suggestions for the team. However, I am at a loss for constructive criticism. I don’t know how guys who are paid that amount of money can not show up for a game against one of the worst teams in the league. I don’t know what motivates the Broncos to play well. So, today I’m going to let you throw your two cents in. Actually, you can throw $100 in, but it probably won’t make the Broncos play better [...]

Broncos Play Like Turkeys

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Broncos should have checked their calendars. Thanksgiving is four days away. It’s not today. They were thankful that they were playing the Raiders. At home. With a two game lead over the Chargers in the AFC West. They were too thankful and ended up playing like turkeys. Like most people do on Thanksgiving, they watched football. Did they serve turkey in the locker room at halftime because it sure looked like the Broncos fell asleep in the second half. They let the Raiders who had not scored an offensive touchdown in 13 quarters rack up 31 points by the end of the game. The [...]

Broncos V. Raiders Preview

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Raider haters are out in full force this week. Here in Denver, we don’t throw welcome parties for Al Davis and Co. We quickly grab all our blue and orange gear and head out to Invesco thanking our lucky stars that Mike Shanahan was fired by Davis 20 years ago. The Broncos already beat the Raiders (2-8) in their first meeting of the season. It was a Monday night game in Oakland that saw the Broncos rack up 41 points to the Raiders’ 14. A great way to start off the season! Since then, each team has it’s highs and lows. Okay, well Oakland hasn’t seen many [...]

Broncos’ Buzz

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Weekly briefs:
- Eddie Royal is arguably the most versatile player in the league right now.
- The recently retired John Lynch has one regret during his time with the Broncos.
- Champ Bailey could make his return against the Raiders.
- Two former Razorbacks face each other on Sunday. Peyton Hillis may be starting while Darren McFadden may start the game on the bench. Go figure.
- Watching from the sidelines is killing Selvin Young.
- Jay Cutler should treat every quarter like it’s the fourth quarter.
- Why is Cutler so successful this year? Give credit to the big man out of Boise.
- Do you think [...]

Broncos Have Been Living In A Dream

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos | COMMENTS: None Yet

Are the Broncos dreaming right now? Are things so good for the team that they expect to wake up with a different reality?
The Broncos came home to happy fans after winning two consecutive road games. They return to Invesco to play one of the worst teams in the league (Oakland). They’ve got their offense clicking again, and their defense has improved dramatically since losing Boss and Champ Bailey, D.J. Williams, and Nate Webster to injury. What the hell? The Chargers have fallen two games behind the Broncos for first place in the AFC West. The Broncos rookie class is arguably one [...]

AFC West Breakdown: Week 11

AUTHOR: Kim Constantinesco | IN: Broncos, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

I watched the Wizard of Oz on Sunday night, and I saw comparisons between the movie’s characters and the AFC West. Throughout the season, the Broncos have been playing with and without their brain, the Chiefs have been searching for courage, the Chargers have been playing without heart, and the Raiders, well, they’ve been in the hunt for a brain, a heart, and some courage. In fact, I don’t think they’re even following the yellow brick road to Oz. They’re [...]
