As most people close the door on another work week, the NFL heats up because of the start of free agency.
Let’s talk about the Broncos defense. Bob Slowik says that his top priority will be to stop the run. It can’t get much worse as the Broncos were ranked 30th in run defense. According to the Denver Post, Ebenezer Ekuban has made the decision to test the free agency market, but will stay in touch with the Broncos. Other possibilities on defense:
“Players the Broncos are believed to be interested in include Cincinnati’s Justin Smith, San Francisco’s Marques Douglas and Oakland’s Tommy Kelly.” (All on the defensive line)
“At linebacker, Detroit’s Boss Bailey, [...]

Opening Bell Begins Friday
It may not be a bad idea. Things are heating up around the league with draft and trade rumors. Some of the talk in the Broncos organization includes striking a deal with the Redskins to get rid of Javon Walker, restructuring Travis Henry’s contract, and whether or not kicker, Jason Elam, will enter free agency. There is also a chance that John Lynch could end his tenure with the Broncos and go to another team should he decide to play next season. There is a strong possibility that Ian Gold will be cut, and BIG Detroit defensive tackle (and scoring [...]
R.I.P Bob Howsam
Bob Howsam laid the foundation for the house that John Elway built. He also played a pivotal roll in making Denver one of the greatest sports cities in the country by building a future for the Colorado Rockies.
According to the Rocky Mountain News, Howsam “oversaw his family’s Denver Bears baseball team of the Western League and American Association from 1947 to 1962 and built the ballpark that eventually became Mile High Stadium. He then gave the site its most famous tenant by helping found the Broncos as one of the charter franchises in the American Football League in 1960.”
Not many [...]
The Roar of the Lion
The newest site to join the Fan-Sided Family is the SideLion Report. Please welcome lead blogger, Big Al, and send him some love as he covers what he says is ”the worst run team in professional sports.” Big Al also runs a Detroit sports blog called The Wayne Fontes Experience. Go check out both sites.
Maybe this should have been done in the Broncos organization last season to get players take their jobs more seriously. Check out this YouTube clip of a great prank pulled on Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, Kyle Kendrick:

Speaking of trades, how about Woody Paige’s article in the Denver Post on what the Broncos should do in the off-season. Because offering Javon Walker, Travis Henry, and their first round draft pick to Cincinnati for Chad Johnson is out of the question, Paige offers the Broncos organization some other tips. He suggests trading down in the first round of the draft to get Clemson defensive end, Phillip Merling, and trading up in the second round to acquire Oklahoma [...]
The Rod Smith Era Could Be Over
Some big news in Broncos country: Future Hall of Famer, Rod Smith, agreed to go on the reserve/retired list today. He did it to provide the Broncos with some salary cap relief. After having two hip surgeries in the last year, the 37 year old receiver is not officially retiring, but this move gets him one step closer to putting the torch out on his incredible NFL career.
Smith’s agent, Tom Mills, told the Associated Press that Smith is “a long way from doing anything taxing on the hip.” Should Smith recover from the surgery, he would need to apply for [...]
Paying More to See the Broncos
How can the Broncos raise ticket prices for next season? Despite the losing season, tickets will increase from 3 to 10 percent depending on location. According to The Gazette, Broncos spokesman, Jim Saccomano said that new ticket prices are in store to stay competitive with other NFL teams. To see a run down of the changes, scope out this article:

Former Bronco, Al Wilson, is meeting with the Detroit Lions this week to determine if he is capable of playing for them. He will undergo a physical examination to see if there are any lingering effects from his neck injury. Fans in Denver were hoping that the middle linebacker would be returning to the Mile High City to play after missing the entire 2007 season.
Here is P.O.’s attempt to convince Wilson to stay in Denver:
1. Detroit v. Denver – the pictures do all of the talking
2. Talk to Tatum Bell…he’ll tell you Broncos country is where you should stay.
3. Who would you rather play [...]
Broncos Need John Lynch
Everyone in the Broncos organization is patiently waiting for John Lynch’s retirement decision, but there is one guy that could have really convinced him to stay on the Broncos roster for another year. That guy is Pro Bowl teammate, Champ Bailey. Bailey was thrilled to learn that he was not flying solo this year as the only Broncos player on the Pro Bowl roster. Bailey has played in every Pro Bowl with Lynch since becoming a Bronco, and he was bummed when Lynch was selected as an injury replacement. Lynch was able to play because Bob Sanders (Colts) was injured. Bailey took the opportunity to talk to Lynch during Sunday’s [...]
Broncos Pro Bowl News Briefs
The NFL season is not quite over. This weekend is the annual Pro Bowl game in Hawaii where the best players in the league get to relax and line up for a few plays before their season is truly considered finished. One remarkable Pro Bowler that will be remembered this weekend is Redskins safety, Sean Taylor. Taylor was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team after his death, and the league flew his family to Hawaii this week to take part in the Pro Bowl festivities. In an interview with the Denver Post, Sean Taylor’s father, Pedro, said that Darrent Williams’ family has been on his [...]
