The Denver Broncos beat the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs. It took them into overtime to get there, but a win is a win. The Broncos fell behind in the game and were trailing in the fourth quarter.
However, Bo Nix led a go-ahead drive to get the Broncos back in front. After former Broncos' kicker Matt Prater tied the game as regulation winded down, the two teams headed into overtime. Once again, in overtime, it looked like Buffalo was going to win this one.
But, once again, the Denver Broncos found a way. Unfortunately, the Broncos just lost their starting quarterback for the rest of the season, as Sean Payton announced to the media that Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle on one of the last plays of overtime.
Bo Nix is done for the rest of the postseason with a broken ankle
Yes, this is real, and it's the most brutal news the Denver Broncos could have possibly gotten:
Stunner: Broncos coach Sean Payton just announced QB Bo Nix broke a bone in his ankle and is out for the season.

You really just have to wonder why it had to happen to Bo Nix and the Broncos, as it came on one of the final plays of overtime. Somehow, Nix finished the game, and there seemed to be no indication that he was hurt.
The adrenaline was surely rushing, so the team doctors or someone around that likely took Nix in for some testing and x-rays. Nix has a broken ankle and will undergo surgery this upcoming week. He'll be out for the rest of the postseason.
The Denver Broncos just saw their second-year QB make a ton of strides and lead this team to another come from behind win, and it feels a bit unfair that Nix is now out for the remainder of the postseason. NFL teams typically do not get many chances like this to make a run at the Super Bowl, so this injury really feels like a gut punch to a degree.
Bo Nix is out for the season.
