3. Vic Fangio, 2019 - 2021

Vic Fangio went 19-30 in three years as the Denver Broncos head coach, but did field competitive and disciplined teams in the 2019 and 2021 NFL Seasons. He was fired following the 2021 NFL Season to pave the way for Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson, which is a marriage that did not work out.

Fangio was not a bad head coach by any means, but the lack of a franchise QB spelled the end of his tenure with the Broncos. Fangio is likely not going to get another shot at being a HC in the NFL, but with the right QB, he could be quite successful.

2. Nathaniel Hackett, 2022

Arguably the worst head coach in the history of the Denver Broncos and perhaps one of the worst head coaches ever, Nathaniel Hackett might not even be cut out to be a coordinator in the NFL, as his former and current QB, Aaron Rodgers, seems to have had a huge sway in Hackett getting to where he has gotten to.

Now back with Rodgers with the New York Jets, the Broncos endured a brutal tenure that didn't even last the entire season. Dysfunctional does not even begin to describe how bad his tenure was with the Broncos.

1. Sean Payton, 2023 - Present

The most recent head coach of the Denver Broncos, Sean Payton brought some nice change and helped the Broncos go from 5-12 in 2022 to 8-9 in 2023. The three-win improvement is massive, especially when you consider just how dysfunctional the team was in 2022 under Nathaniel Hackett.

Payton helped coach a much more disciplined and competitive team, and they were just one game behind the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West race. They also found themselves in the Wild Card race as well, but a slow finish put the dagger into their season. Nonetheless, about 26 other teams have a worse head coach, so the Broncos are in a great spot.
