3 underrated free agents for the Denver Broncos to sign
Three underrated free agents the Broncos should sign in 2023
2. Damien Harris, RB
The Denver Broncos need to find an RB1 for 2023 until Javonte Williams returns from the serious knee injury he suffered at the beginning of the 2022 season. Williams was poised to break out last year until that knee injury sadly ended his season.
Damien Harris, a third-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2019, is a free agent and did struggle with some injuries in 2022. He was eventually pushed down the depth chart by their second-year back, Rhamondre Stevenson.
Harris rushed for 929 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2021 and did see a massive increase in production during his first three seasons.
He averaged 5.0 yards per carry in 2020. Harris only managed 462 yards on the ground in 11 games in 2022, but he's given RB1 production before.
I think he'd be a logical, low-cost option to start the season for the Denver Broncos. Pairing Harris with a likely re-signing of Latavius Murray and perhaps a late-round draft pick can help fill out the RB room until Williams returns.
Denver does not have to spend big money on the RB position given the number of free agents available.
