The Denver Broncos need to invest in their offense, there's no question about it. That side of the ball has been bad in Denver since the 2014 season, even if they were a bit more opportunistic in 2015 than in previous years. The 2016 offense led by Gary Kubiak and Trevor Siemian would feel like the 2013 juggernaut compared to what we've been seeing in recent years.

Although it's reasonable to assume that the Denver Broncos have the cash on hand to really almost anything they want in 2023 NFL free agency, they do have to operate within the confines of the NFL salary cap rules and as of right now, they've got about $12 million in salary cap space.

There are also plenty of pressing areas of need on this roster, such as the offensive line and perhaps soon the defensive line as well. The tight end position doesn't really come to mind when you think about the Denver Broncos' top areas of need but there might be a sneaky bit of a need there, for sure. Albert Okwuegbunam barely played in 2022 and is entering the final year of his rookie deal. Rookie sensation Greg Dulcich struggled for about six months with hamstring issues.

Everyone else on the roster at that position is a pending free agent. This is a position the Broncos could absolutely look to address in 2023 NFL free agency, at least to raise the floor of the room even if they don't go after some of the biggest names. Here are three players they could target.

Denver Broncos free agent tight end targets in 2023

1. Foster Moreau, Las Vegas Raiders

When you look at some of the top free agent tight ends available, most NFL fans probably aren't going to be clamoring for their respective teams to sign Foster Moreau. Foster Moreau has been somewhat living in the shadow of Darren Waller the past four years with the Raiders, but the time has come for him to spread his wings and fly.

Hopefully, to Denver.

Foster Moreau's market value, per Spotrac, is around $9 million per season on a new contract. That would be a great price for someone who can play the types of roles he can play in your offense. The former LSU product is an outstanding athlete, he's proven he's got some juice in the passing game with an average per reception over 12 yards and 12 touchdowns in four seasons.

He's a very good blocker, which is something I think the Broncos will (should?) prioritize when it comes to a free agent tight end. Moreau gives you an option as really a TE1A or TE1B along with Greg Dulcich and is someone who might see the field more with his ability to play in line, while Dulcich can move around the formation and play more of a big slot role.

The three degrees of separation with this Broncos coaching staff never fails, either. Moreau was coached as a member of the Raiders by John Morton, or at least, John Morton was on the Raiders' staff from 2019-2021, so he would know Moreau very well.
