The Denver Broncos can't keep getting away from this, right? Well, so far, they can. Thanks to yet another fourth quarter comeback, the Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 and moved to 6-2 on the year.

The Chiefs now fall into second place in the division, as the Broncos clinch a huge season series split against their main rival. With the halfway point of the season about here, it's clear that the AFC West could be a two-horse race, pun intended, down the stretch.

Right now, the Broncos are up a half-game over KC due to the Chiefs having their bye. Let's power-rank the AFC West and see where things stand now.

Updated AFC West rankings following Week 8 show a surging Denver Broncos

4. Los Angeles Chargers (0-7)

The Los Angeles Chargers keep losing. Even after a bye, the Chargers came out flat and got blown out by the Los Angeles Rams, falling to 0-7 on the season. The Chargers continue to be the lone team in the league without a win this year, and you naturally wonder if we'll begin to see some coaching changes coming. You honestly run out of words for how poorly this season has gone off the rails, as the Chargers need to clean house and start from scratch.

Perhaps most troubling is that the Mike McDaniel hire could not have worked out less, and quarterback Justin Herbert sincerely looks like a broken player.

3. Las Vegas Raiders (4-4)

The Las Vegas Raiders got back on track in Week 8 after a four-game winning streak, taking down the New York Jets. Now 4-4 on the season, the Raiders are actually still well within the AFC playoff race, and they're only one win behind the Chiefs in the division standings.

While the offense has looked really sharp at times this year, the defense has been porous, and with the Raiders being such a lopsided team like this, it's hard to see how this team is able to perform better than their .500 record indicates.

Certainly not a bad team by any means, the Raiders are going to finish out the year as an average football team with room to improve.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)

The Chiefs have lost two games in a row and have lost their lead in the AFC West, coming in at No. 2 in our power rankings. Kansas City's two toughest games of the season thus far were in the last two weeks against Seattle and Denver.

This team is rather one-dimensional on offense and have a virtually non-existent pass rush. It's a flaw roster that is continually propped up by the all-time greatness of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. While being 5-2 still keeps the Chiefs in things, it's clear that this team probably isn't quite as good as some think.

1. Denver Broncos (6-2)

Now in first in the AFC West with a 6-2 record, the Broncos are the top team in our divisional power rankings. Denver is now 20-5 since the start of the 2025 season and is 6-2 for the second year in a row, while also now being winners of four in a row.

The Broncos continue to find ways to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, and the more we talk about it, the more speechless we get. I guess the thing to do here is to simply enjoy it - the analysis only goes so far when the same thing keeps happening.

If the wins keep coming, who cares how they look?
