The Denver Broncos scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and took down the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 of the 2026 NFL Season. With the win, the Broncos extended their winning streak to four games and get to 6-2 on the season.
Now first in the AFC West, the Broncos have it all in front of them - not only is the team well within range to win the division for the second year in a row, but the team now has all the reason in the world to go out and make a major trade.
And that trade should be for Jonathan Taylor.
Denver Broncos must supercharge this RB room with a Jonathan Taylor trade
The Broncos, along with other teams, appear to have a degree of interest in Taylor, which is significant. Taylor is now on a 2-6 Indianapolis Colts team that already traded Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner after firing General Manager Chris Ballard.
And with how frequently we have seen Taylor's name pop up in trade rumors, it makes all the sense in the world to make the move. The Broncos currently have two running backs on IR in Tyler Badie and RJ Harvey. Badie is a third-down running back with limited rushing upside, and Harvey might actually be a better receiver than runner.
As of now, you could easily argue that the Broncos have one reliable runner on the roster in Jonah Coleman, who went off in Week 8. The Broncos simply need another consistent player in the backfield - another consistent player who can create yards between the tackles - another consistent player who has the vision and explosiveness to get this running game going.
Taylor makes sense, he'd fill a need and give the Broncos one of the best one-two punches at the position alongside Coleman. The team could still deploy Harvey in his 'normal' role, and Badie could be someone they simply move on from in the event they'd add Taylor.
Denver is clearly still in a Super Bowl window, and with the trade deadline already heating up a bit, the Broncos need to get in on the fun. As quickly as Super Bowl windows open, they can close, so there really isn't any use in waiting around.
If not now, when?
The Broncos are 6-2 on the season, are in first place in the AFC West, and have all the reason in the world to go out, be aggressive, and bring in another game-changing running back to finally help this unit find its footing for the long-term.
