The Denver Broncos beat the Atlanta Falcons in the first game of the preseason for the reigning AFC West champions. From the start, the Broncos definitely had their way with Atlanta, and it does show off just how well-coached this team is and how solid the depth is overall.
There were some obvious winners from this game, but it honestly just kind of felt like business as usual for the Broncos, who are capable of winning it all this year. Among the bright spots from this victory, there was definitely someone who stood out.
And it was not a player, as, especially in the first half, it became clear that the Davis Webb hype train got going and might be here to stay.

The first half of the game really was when the excitement was building, as the Broncos were able to go 69 yards in just six plays in the first quarter in a drive that took less than four minutes. Backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham hit notable gains to Pat Bryant and Courtland Sutton, who also had a circus catch in the first half.
The Broncos then followed up with 10 more points from the offense, including a five play drive that covered 48 yards. The field goal drive ended up being nine plays and 64 yards. While scoring against a bad team in the preseason isn't always a big deal, it felt like a big deal with Webb.
Denver's offensive coordinator had a nice mixture of under center and shotgun formations, and it just felt like the sequencing of plays were what they should be, and any time you can put up 17 points on offense in a single half, you're doing something right.
The operation felt rather crisp throughout the game, especailly when Stidham was in with many of the starters. Much of the chatter this offseason has been about Webb and how he'll handle these duties. His first go at it as the 'official' play-caller went rather well.
And while no game is perfect and no win is perfect, what we saw on Friday was much better than the alternative of a sloppy offensive showing and an overall struggle to move the ball. The Broncos were also able to do this without guys like J.K. Dobbins and Jaylen Waddle in the lineup.
There will surely be some growing pains with Webb calling the shots on offense, but the first-time play-caller certainly did himself some favors in Week 1 of the preseason, and it feels like the hype train has really gotten moving.
