Denver Broncos' Wednesday injury report continues to confirm fans' fears

This is just not ideal.

The Denver Broncos play the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, and their first injury report of the week features some familiar faces. To be honest, this is beyond disappointing, and yes, it is early, but the Broncos are trying to vault into contention this season.

And the team will need its best players on the field in order to hit that mark. After a shaky, sloppy win in Week 1, the team heads to Indy to play the Colts, who are also 1-0 after a blowout win over the Dolphins.

Ideally, Colts' starting QB Daniel Jones doesn't play nearly as well as he did in Week 1, and the Broncos' offense hits their stride. Denver seeks to start 2-0 for the first time since the 2021 NFL Season, but their Wednesday injury report could be a small setback

Broncos' Wednesday injury report unfortunately features notable players

Not only did Dre Greenlaw not practice on Wednesday, but defensive end John Franklin-Myers did not practice, and tight end Evan Engram was limited:

Franklin-Myers and Engram have knee and calf injuries, which can definitely be tricky. Overall, this is one of the worst-case scenarios for Denver to begin the season. And sure, they did win in Week 1, and backup LB Justin Strnad played well, but the Broncos signed Dre Greenlaw and Evan Engram because of what they can do when they're on the field, period.

The Broncos still have Thursday and Friday to see if any of their DNP players take the field, but a DNP designation early in the week, and in general, is never a good sign. I am definitely a bit more worried about the tight end position, as Denver's only notable move this offseason was signing Engram.

Denver somehow did not come away with one of the many draftable tight ends in a very deep class, so Engram's importance was magnified after the fact. The team does have Caleb Lohner on the practice squad, but he's a former basketball player.

Anyway, the team's Wednesday injury report features three key starters, and I've yet to mention Nate Adkins, a tight end who is a bit underrated himself.
