The Denver Broncos largely ran it back during the 2026 NFL Offseason, re-signing many of their own free agents. The team did swing a deal for Jaylen Waddle, which was one of the biggest moves any team made this offseason, but, overall, the Broncos clearly wanted to bring the gang back for another try at making the Super Bowl.
And it's not a bad idea, as this team does likely make the Super Bowl in 2025 if Bo Nix doesn't break his ankle, but with the team re-signing so many of their other players, that also meant the Broncos made some moves that not many of us agreed with.
Two key positions stuck out as being head-scratching, at best, as the team pretty much ran it back at tight end and inside linebacker, the two weakest positions on the roster from 2025. Well, at inside linebacker, the Broncos were just now thrown a lifeline that they must grab onto.
Denver Broncos should jump on the chance to sign linebacker Tyrel Dodson
Due to the Miami Dolphins re-signing All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks, and the team also getting immediate returns from rookie ILB Jacob Rodriguez, they clearly felt comfortable moving on from veteran Tyrel Dodson, a quality player at a major position of need for the Broncos:

Dodson had one more year left on a two-year deal worth $6.25 million, so he wasn't getting paid a lot, but he didn't have any guaranteed money left on his deal, so the Dolphins really didn't have a reason not to move on from him with the emergence of Rodriguez and the presence of Brooks.
He turned just 28 years old this summer and suited up and started 16 games for the Dolphins in 2025, racking up one interception, three passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, five sacks, 129 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits.
He had 107 total tackles in the 2024 season, so he's hit that triple-digit figure the past two seasons. Pro Football Reference notes that Dodson allowed a 115.7 passer rating when in coverage in 2025, but he allowed a much more desirable 77.2 passer rating in coverage in 2024.
According to PFF's data, Dodson allowed a 108.1 passer rating in coverage this year, so it's clear that he wasn't all that good in coverage, but neither are the Broncos current starting linebackers. Overall, Dodson is a productive player with a bit of youth still on his side - he's younger than both Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, and it's clear that he wasn't cut because of his performance.
The Broncos, at this point, have their two starters in Singleton and Strnad, but they could use a mid-tier starting-caliber player like Dodson to at least raise the floor in the room. Coupled with Red Murdock, the exciting rookie, the Broncos would actually have a legitimate plan at the position.
Denver will need a third linebacker to step up, as Strnad has never been a full-time starter, and Singleton is nearly unplayable sometimes. While Murdock could be that third ILB, Dodson does bring a ton of experience and has been a full-time starter.
This move wouldn't make headlines or anything, but it'd be the Broncos signing a quality player at a position of need.
