The Denver Broncos have been among the least injured teams in the NFL in the Sean Payton era, and that has surely helped the team win 24 regular season games over the past two seasons and 32 total over the past three.
Some have wondered if that 'injury luck' would disappear at some point. Through just over a week of camp, there have been some players who have gone down with injuries. Most of them have been relatively minor, but defensive end Matt Henningsen did suffer a torn Achilles.
During Monday's practice, running back J.K. Dobbins, who has never played a full season in his career, went into the locker room with trainers after suffering an injury.

According to Henry Chisolm, Dobbins jogged into the locker room, which is much better than not being able to jog or being carted off:

Payton talked about the injury during media availability after practice, and it's actually interesting; if you look closely, Payton does kind of rub near his hamstring, so you almost wonder if that is where Dobbins got hurt:

He does not seem too concerned, so this could simply be Dobbins and the Broncos trainers wanting to be cautious. In 10 games for the Broncos in the 2025 season, Dobbins racked up 772 yards and four touchdowns, averaging a healthy 5.0 yards per carry.
Dobbins was on pace for over 1,300 yards across a full 17-game season, and it seemed like he was trending toward playing a majority, if not all of the season. He went down on an illegal hip-drop tackle in the Broncos Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
He suffered a season-ending foot injury but did appear to be close to returning for the AFC Championship Game. His health is absolutely key for the Broncos this year, but they did prepare for a potential injury with the drafting of Jonah Coleman, who has done well thus far in camp and could be in line for a legitimate RB2 role with the team this year.
It does look like that the Broncos avoided something major with Dobbins, and while nothing is official just yet, the way the immediate fallout occured does seem to mean it was a relatively minor thing that the Broncos are going to be careful with.
The Bronocs have a preseason game on Friday, but I am not sure the coaching staff was even planning on playing starters in that game - we do not know that for sure, but the timing would not make sense.
