The Denver Broncos have a lot going for them right now despite that Week 1 primetime loss. After bouncing back in Week 2, the Broncos showed signs of the 2025 season with a 17-point second half and fourth quarter comeback.
For much of 2025, it felt like the Broncos were eventually going to see those constant second half surges come back to bite them, but it never really happened, and while this unit could use some major help at inside linebacker, they might be one fixable issue away from becoming the Super Bowl favorite.
Outside of acquiring better personnel, the Broncos could embark on a Super Bowl run if they can find a way to make their first half offense look like their second half offense.
The Denver Broncos need to somehow make the second half offense appear in the first half
Of the Broncos 15 regular season wins since the start of the 2025 season, the team scored more second half points than first half points in eight of those 15 games. While that doesn't seem like a stat that should alarm you, the Broncos did need five fourth quarter comebacks and seven game-winning drives to reach 14 wins last year.
And for much of the 2025 season, many in the fanbase and across the NFL landscape were wondering why the Broncos couldn't begin the game how they end it. Things just seemed to become easier for them on offense as the game went on, and we just saw that in Week 2.
Denver scored 17 of their 20 points in the second half against the Jacksonville Jaguars. We can even separate this by quarter. In the first quarter during the 2025 season, the Broncos averaged just 4.4 points per game, which ranked 21st in the NFL. In the fourth quarter during the 2025 season, the Broncos ranked 10th in the NFL with 7.3 points per game in the final quarter of play.
The scoring consistency might be the biggest overall factor that could thrust this team into being an unquestioned Super Bowl favorite. It seems like quarterback Bo Nix feels a lot more comfortable in the offense late in the game - he's not afraid to throw the ball down the field and also seems to use his legs a lot more.
Nix is excellent on the move and has shown the ability to find success throwing the ball down the field, but that was virtually non-existent in Week 2. Perhaps it is as simple as being an urgency thing, but it should also be something that gets attention going forward.
Being aggressive from the jump could strain a defense and have them playing catch up later in the game, rather than seemingly only turning it on in the second half. While eventually getting some help at ILB should be a huge priority, finding a way to make the first half offense look like the second half offense could be the one thing that truly makes the Broncos a legitimate contender in 2026.
