The Denver Broncos starting quarterback was the talk of the offseason to a degree, as many were wondering if Bo Nix's ankle recovery was going to go as it should. To be honest, it did seem like some of the outside chatter got out of hand, as it was a broken bone, after all, and bones heal as they should.

Nix ended up having a clean-up procedure, but there really wasn't anything going on with the recovery to indicate that Nix was not on track. Well, he's not been limited during training camp, and all of a sudden, the preseason is about here.

When addressing the media following Wednesday's practice, head coach Sean Payton addressed the situation with Nix and his status for the team's first preseason game on Friday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Denver Broncos have a QB with a clean bill of health heading into the season

While Payton confirmed that Nix will not play in this game, he did make mention that if this weel was a regular season game week, Nix would play, and that does kind of confirm 'officially' that NIx is healthy and ready to roll:

Payton also said further that Nix will play in the final two preseason games, which is ideal. And I guess depending on you who ask in Broncos Country, this isn't much of a surprise, but it did seem like there was some uncertainty surrounding Nix's ankle in the offseason.

This should all put an end to the talk, and with Nix primed to appear in the Broncos final two preseason games, he'll get those necessary reps to get ready for the start of the season. I guess something that people could have been uneasy about is that it was his ankle, and considering he is a mobile QB who runs a lot, perhaps some wondered if his mobility would be hindered, for example.

He also did recently confirm that the ankle isn't going to hold him back, which is even further confirmation. At the end of the day, the timing of the ankle injury may have made the fallout and reaction a bit over the top.

The Broncos third-year QB is healthy and is probably as close to 100 percent as you can get. And given how confident he seems in this entire process, he also likely cleared the mental hurdle that comes with a major injury.

Perhaps now we can finally turn the page on this ankle situation for good.
