The Denver Broncos can't stop playing in one-score games. It seems to be rather impossible for this bunch. Once again playing at home, the Broncos needed everything they possibly had in the second half to beat the juggernaut Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams might soon turn out to be the best team in the NFL, so this was every bit of a major win for the franchise. Denver again wins at home and has lost just three home games in the Bo Nix era. Part of that amazing success at home is Nix stepping up in the clutch.
And while we all know that Nix does play well late in games, a series of statistics assembled after the game really put into perspective just how good he's been when it matters the most.
Bo Nix's late-game production for the Denver Broncos is almost too good to believe
Assembled by NFL Researcher on Twitter/X, since the 2025 season, Nix ranks first among quarterbacks in fourth quarter comebacks, game-winning drives, touchdowns when trailing but one score, and touchdowns on third down in the fourth quarter.
He also ranks third in touchdowns in the fourth quarter and fourth in total touchdowns on third and fourth down.
Bo Nix since 2025 (QB Rank)...
— NFL Researcher (@NFL_Researcher) September 28, 2026
🔸7 fourth qtr comebacks (1st)
🔸9 game-winning drives (1st)
🔸20 TD when trailing by 1 score (1st)
🔸12 TD in 4th quarter (T-3rd)
🔸13 TD on 3rd/4th down (4th)
🔸5 TD on 3rd down in 4th qtr (T-1st)
While some of these stats might seem a bit arbitrary, they're anything but. We have said this before - it's a lot better that Nix heats up later in the game as opposed to cooling down in the second half. The Broncos clearly have some major issues on offense in the first half, as it might just be the scripted plays that aren't working.
But Nix turns into a totally different player when his team needs him the most, and this is something that could very well carry the Broncos to a Super Bowl title. Heck, the Broncos were likely playing in the Super Bowl last year had Nix not broken his ankle.
And there really is no telling how that game goes if Nix is in and playing the Seattle Seahawks. This clutch gene of his has sustained itself for more than a year one, and we're to the point where it's honestly expected.
There simply aren't many QBs in this league who have the late-game makeup that Nix has. To be blunt, what Nix has going for him in this regard is special, and there isn't any reason to believe that it's going to disappear anytime soon.
The Broncos are now 2-1 on the season and have just three games left before the team sees their schedule lighten up in the middle of the year.
