Bo Nix has not been accurate so far this season. According to SISdatahub.com, Nix has only been on target with 65 percent of his throws this season.

Only Matthew Stafford has been worse. In the 4th quarter or OT when trailing by one score, Bo Nix has completed 12 of 21 for 156 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. That's a passer rating of 76.7 which is 15th of 22 among QBs who have a minimum of 10 passing attempts.

Nix is 10th in catchable pass rate at 85 percent. Per SIS, Geno Smith has been the best so far at 90 percent, while Aaron Rodgers has been the worst at 79.3 percent. Nix is also tied for last in average throw depth at 5.6 yards (with Daniel Jones). Nix has 120 throws so far this year and has 78 on-target and 102 catchable.

So he has been inaccurate, but not terribly inaccurate. He has the largest difference between catchable percent and on-target percent at 20. Joe Burrow has the lowest difference between the two numbers at 6.4 (Minimum 80 throws over 4 games).

Why is Bo Nix playing worse in 2026 than he did in 2025?

So Nix is throwing short and inaccurately. He is also getting pressured a little bit more than he did last season, according to Pro Football Reference. He was pressured on 19.2 percent of his dropbacks last season, and he is being pressured on 22.4 percent so far this season.

PFR has its own accuracy metrics. According to PFR, Bo Nix has been on target 71.2 percent of his throws, which is 23rd.
Geno Smith leads there as well at 88.2 percent, and Jameis Winston is last at 66.7 percent. Nix is 24th in bad throw percentage at 20 percent.

Nix has only scrambled three times in four games. He scrambled 35 times during the 17 regular season games last year. Nix was blitzed heavily in game one (above 40% of the time), but he has not been blitzed that often in the games after. He is currently 13th in how often he gets blitzed.

Caleb Williams has been getting blitzed on 46.5 percent of his dropbacks, which is the highest level so far this season. CJ Stroud has been blitzed the least at 14.7 percent. Nix has been blitzed 40 times on his 143 dropbacks (28 percent).

Nix is dead last among starting QBs in intended air yards per attempt at 5.4. Lamar Jackson is leading the NFL at 9.8. The only other QB who is below 6.0 so far this season is Daniel Jones at 5.7.

So how does this compare to Nix in 2025?

Nix had a bad throw percentage of 15.9 in 2025. He was 9th in on-target percentage at PFR at 77.4 percent. His IAY/PA was 7.3 last season, or almost two yards longer than he is currently getting. Per SIS, he had an on-target percentage of 71.8 last season; this has dropped significantly relative to last year.

His catchable rate last season was 85.9. That is about the same as he has produced so far this season. Per SIS, Josh Allen led both metrics last season at 79.4 percent on target and 90 percent catchable.
