Are RJ Harvey and Marvin Mims playing today? Latest updates for the Broncos

The Denver Broncos do not have a must-win game in Week 2, but it certainly feels like it based on how poorly Week 1 went. The Broncos return home to host the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that did beat them in Denver during the 2025 regular season.

Jacksonville is riding a nine-game win streak, and that does have to end at some point. We saw the Broncos run out of gas against the Jaguars in 2025, as Jacksonville came into Denver and snapped an 11-game win streak. While the Broncos are, for the most part, pretty healthy, they could be down two key offensive players for Week 2.

Will Marvin Mims and RJ Harvey be on the field for the Broncos on Sunday afternoon for the Week 2 showdown?

Denver Broncos injury update for Marvin Mims and RJ Harvey

Mims was a "DNP" designation all week for the Broncos and was ruled out following Friday's practice. He's battling a foot injury:

Harvey, on the other hand, did see limited action for the Thursday and Friday injury update, and was given a questionable designation, but he is also out for Week 2:

For the Broncos, the team will now have to not only find a new punt returner, but the team may also be forced to give the rookie Jonah Coleman some looks. Harvey did get a good bit of work last week for the Broncos, but with the second-year running back out, Coleman figures to step into that role.

Not only does Coleman already possess strong pass protection skills, but his receiving ability flies under the radar a bit, and even with Tyler Badie on the roster, the Broncos would benefit more from Coleman, as he has a much higher ceiling and a much more thorough rushing ability.

In fact, Coleman did get some J.K. Dobbins' comparisons by the Broncos earlier in the offseason, so it would be a bit of a shock if he didn't get some work. As for Mims, while his involvement on offense hasn't been that notable since the 2024 season, his importance as a return specialist cannot be overstated.

We did see Kris Abrams-Draine playing special teams last week, and, while not having Mims and Harvey is unfortunate, Denver does have a group of players who could temporarily step into these roles. Riley Moss is actually listed as the backup punt returner, and Tyler Badie is listed as a backup kick returner.

It could be more of a committee effort in Week 2, and with how good Jacksonville is, the Broncos may need to break open a big punt or kick return to sway the game in their favor.
