A Denver Broncos nightmare coaching scenario may have just developed

This would be hard to stomach.

The Denver Broncos, from top to bottom, are one of the best, most well-run franchises in the NFL right now. Even with Bo Nix out of the lineup with a broken ankle, the team still has a legitimate shot at making the Super Bowl. The team will host the New England Patriots in the AFC title game next weekend.

Jarrett Stidham will now start at QB for the Broncos, and this team has turned into a bit of a QB factory, as they have set up a near-perfect situation for any QB to develop in. We've seen the QB room duo of Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham sustain itself for two years now, and Stidham himself has been with the team since 2023.

Well, one of the main pieces of this QB room is Davis Webb, who is the quarterbacks coach. Webb has interview for head coaching vacancies and might be one of the more bold and intriguing names left on the market. With the Buffalo Bills having fired Sean McDermott, a nightmare coaching scenario may have just developed.

Davis Webb could be a perfect fit for the Buffalo Bills after the Sean McDermott firing

The dots have already been connected here:

Webb was on the Buffalo Bills from 2019-2021, so he was with the team right as Josh Allen was developing and hitting his stride in this league. The Broncos' QB coach has long bee thought of as an extremely intelligent mind and one of the smarter coaches on offense in the league.

Denver has been able to keep Webb for multiple years now, but it would be a bit of a shock if Denver kept him beyond 2025. A huge reason why Webb could be in play for the Buffalo Bills is his relationship with Josh Allen and the fact that Webb would be a totally different coach than McDermott.

Sometimes, we'll see teams go in the opposite direction with the next head coach after firing the previous one, and I am not sure Webb could be more different than McDermott. While it might be a year too early for Webb to land a head coaching job, we have seen teams take some bold measures.

Without taking huge risks, no team in the NFL is going to sustain success. The Buffalo Bills are probably going to interview one or more of the Broncos coaches at some point, and it would not be shocking if Davis Webb himself ended up over there.
