Three free agents over 30 the Broncos should sign

Julio Jones, wide receiver, 34 years old

Julio Jones turns 34 years old on February 8th, so his best days are clearly behind him.  Also, he has struggled with injuries lately, so this signing would make no sense, right?

Wrong.

I think the Broncos are going to take an “all-in” approach this offseason.  They don’t have a ton of draft capital, so they’ll need to invest in the free agent market.  Also, they may not be tied to Russell Wilson for much longer, so why not go for a SB title while Wilson is still in the building?

Denver isn’t going to move off of him, and frankly, they can’t just yet.

Taking low-risk, high-reward moves like signing big-name free agents to team-friendly deals would be a smart move.  Julio Jones is a Hall of Fame wide receiver, and every once in a while, you can still see Jones make one of his big plays like he did for years in Atlanta.

If Julio Jones were to come in as the third or fourth wide receiver, there isn’t a ton of pressure on him to stay healthy and perform.  It’d be more like a luxury signing.

Do I think the Broncos sign Julio Jones?  No, but it’s fun to think about the possibility.
