Broncos who have earned new deals with the team: Latavius Murray, Running back

A player the Broncos brought in just to plug a hole on the roster following the season-ending injury to Javonte Williams, Latavius Murray has been great for the team and I don’t see how you don’t bring him back.

The Broncos are Murray’s fifth NFL team but he has found a role for them, even if he is pushing 33 years old.

The New Orleans Saints left him unprotected on their practice squad earlier this year and when Williams went down, the Broncos swooped in and took him, looking to at least get an experienced guy on the roster behind Melvin Gordon.

Murray looked better than Gordon right away and his play allowed the Broncos to finally move on from the fumble-prone Gordon.

In 11 games with the Broncos this season, Murray has rushed for 600 yards on 145 carries while scoring four touchdowns. Most importantly, he has not lost a fumble. He also has 25 receptions since joining the team.

The Broncos will get Williams back next season but it remains to be seen when that will take place and how long it will be before he is at 100 percent again.

The Broncos are not deep at running back at all and should explore options in both free agency and the draft. But Murray, while not flashy, gets the job done on a consistent basis and can add something to the roster as a rotational back for the team next season.
