The Denver Broncos have struck a blockbuster trade at the 2022 NFL trade deadline, sending Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins. Just one year after the Broncos traded Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams in a pre-trade deadline blockbuster, they do the same again here in 2022 with another team captain in Chubb, who has been playing some of the best ball we’ve seen from him since his rookie year in 2018.

Many Denver Broncos fans are now lamenting the team’s decision to trade Chubb, despite spending the better part of the last three years lamenting drafting him over Josh Allen (or even Quenton Nelson) in the first place. Chubb has struggled badly with injuries since 2019, but he’s at full strength in 2022 and is almost undoubtedly the biggest piece acquired by any team at this year’s deadline, at least defensively (Christian McCaffrey has made a huge impact on the 49ers).

Now that the Denver Broncos have made the move to trade Bradley Chubb, let’s take a look at their updated 2023 NFL Draft capital.

Denver Broncos 2023 NFL Draft picks after Bradley Chubb Trade

  • 1st-round (from 49ers via Dolphins)
  • 3rd-round
  • 3rd-round (from Colts)
  • 4th-round
  • 5th-round
  • 7th-round (from Vikings)

Here are the full terms of the Bradley Chubb trade, including running back Chase Edmonds coming over to Denver.

The opportunity for the Broncos to get a first-round pick in return for Bradley Chubb presented itself, and the team simply couldn’t pass up an offer like this. The Dolphins sweetened the pot by sending the Broncos running back Chase Edmonds and a 2024 fourth-round pick, which is no minor detail, either.

Edmonds is under contract through the end of the 2023 season. As of right now, he would be the only running back on the Broncos’ roster under contract through 2023 besides Javonte Williams, whose status at the beginning of next year will be at least slightly in question. What does this mean for Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray going forward?

There will certainly be more to discuss there, soon. For now, the Broncos have added a sixth selection to their 2023 NFL Draft war chest, and a big one. The pick coming over from the 49ers should be in the 15-23 range unless they go crazy in the playoffs again.
