The Denver Broncos are signing running back Marlon Mack to the active roster. This comes after yet another running back, Mike Boone, went down with an ankle injury in Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets.

Mack was on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad, and the team is flying out to London later on Monday. That’s a lot of traveling. Mack was active for the 49ers in two games this season but never saw the ball. However, he has had some success in the NFL.

In 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts, Mack saw the football 247 times and ran for nearly 1,100 yards, and scored eight touchdowns. The year prior, he carried the ball 195 times for 908 yards and nine touchdowns. 2019 was the year in which he made the most difference throughout his career. Those two years are the only years he has truly made a major impact.

He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Denver Broncos add Marlon Mack after yet another RB injury

Denver Broncos running back Mike Boone, who had 15 carries for 82 yards this season, went down with an ankle injury. Reports from Jeff Legwold are that the team reached out to Marlon Mack’s representatives during yesterday’s game against the Jets.

That move suggests that the team is not very optimistic—or knew something early on— that Boone would be out for an extended period of time. It would be yet another blow to an already very injured Broncos team who lost Javonte Williams to a torn ACL earlier this season.

As much as a lot of Broncos Country wants to see Melvin Gordon traded due to his fumbling issues, the injuries the team has had at running back might negate any potential Gordon trade talk. It is also important to note that Gordon has not fumbled in the last four games.

While he had just three carries each in the games against the Raiders and Chargers, he had a combined 26 carries in the other two games during that timeframe. To be fair about Gordon’s usage on Sunday, the Broncos threw the football nearly 50 times. That’s on the coaches.
