Melvin Gordon’s time with the Broncos coming to an ugly end?

With Javonte Williams out for the season with a torn ACL, I figured that Melvin Gordon would see more snaps with the Denver Broncos. That actually was not the case on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He was instead replaced in the starting lineup by newcomer Latavius Murray, who has spent time in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, and the then-Oakland Raiders.

Melvin Gordon falling out of favor with the Denver Broncos quickly

On Monday Night, two running backs—Murray and Mike Boone—saw a handful more snaps than Gordon (27 for Murray, 21 for Boone, and nine for Gordon). He was clearly in the doghouse.

Gordon was also interviewed following the game, and as you can imagine, he sounded defeated.

There has to be a trade involving Gordon in the near future, doesn’t there?

Gordon seems to agree.  Gordon liked a bunch of tweets from fans and media about requesting a trade, as well as a tweet from someone asking the question everybody knows the answer to: What did Gordon do to deserve this?

That question right there is kind of puzzling. Gordon has four fumbles this season alone and ranks No. 1 in the NFL for non-quarterbacks. He had three last season. It’s surprising that anybody is asking why Gordon is in the doghouse at this point.

At this point, it would be surprising to see Gordon with the team past the trade deadline, which is on November 1 at 4 PM Eastern. With injuries across the league, there could be some teams interested in Gordon.

The sad thing is that Gordon just has not been able to shake these fumbles. While he didn’t fumble against the Indianapolis Colts, that apparently was not enough to keep him on the field. You have to show consistency in the NFL if you are to be trusted. Gordon has had 25 fumbles throughout his career. 15 of those fumbles have come in the last four years.

The Broncos don’t trust Melvin Gordon at this point. If there’s a suitable offer on the table, the Broncos should take it.
