Three guarantees for Denver Broncos in the next calendar year

A new and more experienced coaching staff will take over

I am all the way out on Nathaniel Hackett.  OK, maybe I have my big toe still in the door, but for the most part, I don’t expect the staff to figure this thing out, and I don’t think George Paton does, either.  I would not be surprised to see the Broncos part with Hackett during the season, even as early as the bye week if the Broncos lose the next two games.

General Managers in the NFL do not get many chances to get the head coach right.  To be fair, they don’t get a ton of chances to get quite a few things right.  Immediate results are often coveted in the NFL, and the Broncos roster is one that can yield those immediate results with the right coach.

So, I think the team will look to bring in a more veteran coaching staff, and I do think that they will look at a head coach who has had head coaching experience before.  My top choice right now in this scenario is Dan Quinn at the head coaching spot and Brian Schottenheimer, former Seahawks’ OC, as the OC.

I think you’d get an elite defense yet again and Russell Wilson played his best football with “Schotty” as the play-caller.  I also think that Paton needs to get this second head coaching hire right, or he’ll be out of a job.

So, why would he then hinge his job on hiring another first-time head coach?  I don’t think that would happen.
