Denver Broncos shouldn’t sign these players with Tim Patrick out: Allen Hurns

One player who once was a young, promising receiver in the league is Allen Hurns, formerly of the Jaguars, Cowboys, and Dolphins.

Once upon a time, in 2015, playing alongside Allen Robinson, Hurns put up 1,031 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett was the quarterback’s coach during this time, so there is some familiarity there.

However, Hurns, who is 30, has not played in a game since 2019.  He opted out of the 2020 season and missed all of 2021 with an injury.

Hurns’ 6’3″ frame might make him an attractive player to sign, given that he does have a similar skillset to Tim Patrick.

If the Denver Broncos do want to bring someone in to replace Patrick’s spot on the roster for 2022, there are other options who haven’t been missing the game for the past two seasons.

Moreover, his lone 1,000-yard season is surrounded by five other seasons where he failed to break 700 receiving yards on the season.

His play is a bit inconsistent and given that he hasn’t played since 2019, I am not sure Hurns would even make the roster.  Once a good player, but does not bring much to the table now, unfortunately.
