Denver Broncos player no. 3: KJ Hamler, WR

This one almost goes without saying.

The fact that we’re already seeing KJ Hamler out on the field working out, running routes, looking fast, and leaping for catches is bordering on miraculous.

Not only did Hamler suffer a serious knee injury early last season, but he also suffered a serious hip injury.

He then had to have the patella taken out of one knee and replace the ACL in the other.

According to Hamler’s personal account of the events that unfolded last season, he lost 40 pounds.

Needless to say, as great as it is to see Hamler out there running around and looking great, the Denver Broncos need to make sure they are keeping him on a daily pitch count.

We know what Hamler brings to the table. His speed is exceptional, and his ability to blow the top off the defense is obvious.

Do we want to see him building chemistry with Russell Wilson? Of course.

Is he going to need to take hits at some point? Obviously.

But for training camp and maybe even the preseason, there’s really no reason the Broncos need to risk anything here.

Hamler could very well suffer a setback if the Broncos put him out there too quickly.

Just like with Randy Gregory, this is almost a situation where you would want to have Hamler do as minimal of work as possible so he can be 100 percent healthy and ready for Week 1 against Seattle.
